The Stikine River was still covered with ice in spots this June when we went by jet boat to see Shakes Glacier. The Leslie family, who operate the tour company Alaska Waters, provided our group a memorable trip!!

#52 Technology (Theme #22)

This photograph shows some of the technology that helps the Captain navigate the waters of the Stikine River. This jet boat is more than a tour boat, it is also a search and rescue vessel with equipment to deal with many emergencies.

#51 Obstacle (Theme #49)

This iceberg is one of the many obstacles of ice our captain had to navigate around during our jet boat trip up the Stikine River this June. I got to see my first real icebergs on this trip.
